Clear Money tips for Everyday Struggles: No Jargon, No Shame

About this blog

I didn’t start this blog because I’m particularly good with money. I started it because I’ve seen, time and time again, how confusing, stressful, and emotional money can feel, even for people who are doing everything they can to get by. I work for a charity to support people with money problems. Most of the people I speak to are ordinary individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds. People who are employed full time but still struggle to make ends meet. Individuals who are scared to open their mail for fear of what they might find inside. People who are too embarrassed to ask for support as they feel they should already know all of the answers.

One thing comes up time and again. It’s not that people are careless, irresponsible, or bad with money. It is that they don’t understand how it works, that it is not explained to them in terms that they would understand. Forms can feel overwhelming, letters are often intimidating, much of the advice online assumes a level of prior knowledge that not everyone has. Over time, I have realised that most people don’t need complicated systems, clever tricks, or lectures about what they should have done. They need clear explanations, reassurance that they are not failing and practical steps that actually work for real people.

That’s why this blog exists.

Who This Blog Is For

I write about money the way I explain it every day; calmly, clearly, and without judgement. There’s no jargon, no scare tactics, and no shaming here. Just straightforward explanations and practical guidance to help you understand what’s going on — and what your next sensible step might be. This isn’t about becoming wealthy, as such. It’s about feeling steadier, better informed, and less overwhelmed.

This blog is for you if money feels stressful or confusing, if you want help that feels supportive, not critical or if you want to understand your options before things become a crisis. You don’t need to have it all worked out to be here.

A Note on Advice & Boundaries

This blog provides general information only. It doesn’t offer personalised financial advice, and it doesn’t replace professional or regulated support. Everything shared here is written in a personal capacity, based on experience explaining money issues in plain terms. Any views are my own. When appropriate, I’ll always encourage readers to seek specialist or official advice for their individual circumstances.

Why I Believe This Matters

Struggling with money doesn’t mean you’re bad with money. More often, it means that no one explained it properly, that you were expected to just “know” or that the system was more complicated than it needed to be. If this blog helps even one person feel calmer, clearer, or less alone with their money worries, then it’s doing exactly what it was meant to do.
